"This song was written at the tail end of our time in South America. As the album deals so heavily with family and aging, I spent a lot of time ruminating on my relationships with my parents and loved ones. My time in Ecuador also gave me space to reflect on where I want to live, and it became clear that I yearn to live in the woods of northern Vermont. This song is for my mother, who has always been one of my best friends, and who continues to inspire me to go where I want." - Kyle
lyrics
one day, I’ll see this in gold
if I could freeze it all, I would, I don’t want you to grow old
you’re with me when I am somewhere else
each morning, I smell the new day
and I am happy to wake up, I’m the only one awake
cause you’re with me when I’m with someone else
you’re with me, I’d be nothing by myself
as I move to the promised land
am I running, am I running
will I sustain the joy you put in me
when the snow falls dark and deep
I still remember the book you read me, all the pleasures I still keep
you’re with me as I start to grow old
when I’m sitting by the window, craving a storm, craving cold
as I move to the promised land
am I running, am I running
will I sustain the joy you put in me
will I disappear into paradise
is it worth it, is it worth it
will I feel that I’ve gone too far away
Vermont, sugar maple
its leaves coat the frosted ground
how I wish you could come live it
smell the autumn and hear the sounds
of the forest and the birds
I have a house up here I love with all my heart
you helped us raise it from the earth
and without you, I’d be lying in the dark
and I need you, I’d be nothing by myself
you’re with me when I am somewhere else
The Anatomy of Frank will record an album on every continent on earth. Europe is next. "The Anatomy of Frank blend the
complexity of post-rock with the immediate likability of pop-rock to create music that will get stuck in your head without ever driving you crazy." - Pretty Much Amazing...more
Left & Right are a Philadelphia-based band who are probably the hardest hitting band we've ever seen play, both literally and figuratively. Awesome albums. The Anatomy of Frank
